I don't know that it's really sunk in yet. Retirement, that milestone we all wonder about throughout our working lives has arrived.
As of today the coffee business is paid for and delivered . I feel as if we've hardly paused long enough to marvel at the fact that I've survived a normal working life.
Of course I was totally unsuccessful in ever finding a career to immerse myself in, but that seems pretty unimportant now. Somehow it was always a case of "how can I make a $ to keep the wolf from the door?" Fortunately something always turns up, and most of my wolves were just playful cubs.
But it was a very interesting and varied journey with a lot of good times and a few low points.
I guess it does feel like you've won the game if you can manage it before 65, albeit very modestly.
So, having skipped the whole career bit and just moved on to retirement... finding our Wind Wanderer is the next project to tackle.
We fly out to Greece on tuesday the 14th and then on to London to catch up with family. Europe has slipped back into the ice age again so not a brillaint time to be looking at boats.
In fact we've cut short the list to inspect in Europe because as of today, we have a sneaky suspicion the right boat is in the USA and we're dead keen to get over there to see it.
If it is the right boat it will have been an amazingly serendipitous, providential journey... watch this space!
