So here's a quick picture catch up of Greece.
The last post was all words. We took heaps of pictures and it took a while to select just a few to give a feel for what it was like without boring you to tears.

Ok. I've been soundly reprimanded for letting our wanderings get way ahead of the pictures and posts here, and not by Sandy! So here's a quick picture catch up of Greece. The last post was all words. We took heaps of pictures and it took a while to select just a few to give a feel for what it was like without boring you to tears. This was arriving in Greece. A lot doesn't make sense here, starting with the welcome. "The ultimate destination for everyone. Just like WIND" ??? But the heart hands were nice. Outside parliament. Not only would it be hard to march like this, but imagine trying to get your mates to accept what you do for a living! This is what Athens is all about. There is the old, and then there is the ancient, and it's all spectacular. Some of the buildings are just plain beautiful. If you click on the picture and enlarge it you can appreciate the detail, and get an idea of just how cold it was from the poor guy on the right! We really enjoyed the street scenes. Just happy snaps of Athenians living their daily lives. It was the last day that they could eat meat before lent, so there was a huge barbeque on the go with a great band and dancing in the streets. Knowing the economic clouds overhead somehow added a poignancy to the occassion. And then there was the aftermath of the recent protests and riots. We did in fact have to make some detours for ongoing protests, but the police seemed to have things much more under control. Of course ruined buildings are not a new thing for Greece and we had an amazing time soaking in the magnificence and achievements of people living so many thousands of years ago. Well that catches up with the Athens part, so to try and keep out of trouble I'll post it and do pictures of our trip to Leros next time, soon, promise.
